What is your favourite word?

‘Believe’.

For me, every success starts with one step. The first step acts as a foundation to a progression of moves to come.

‘Believe’ is more than just a word; it encapsulates an inner strength that is planted inside me to avoid the pitfalls or mishaps in the course of striving for my goals. To attain one’s goal is no easy feat. Through this course, I would encounter myriads of obstacles and things that could potentially spell failures.

The ‘belief’ that I embrace would spur me to face the challenges regardless of the difficulties. It would trigger me in refusing to indulge in negativity or pessimism. I will work hard to reach for the sky as I believe in the beauty of my dreams.

Our brains are indeed very special. It need not be pumped with magical liquids or specially-formed waves to create wonders. When one has conquered one’s mind with success, the rest will just follow through towards greater heights.

Even the economy works on belief and expectations. For example, people would speculate whether the value of bonds would rise or fall and investors would then decide on buying them.

Consider the case where the general prices start to fall down. Once prices start to fall down, consumers would believe and expect that the downward trend to continue. These belief and expectations would reduce demand on goods and have a knock-on effect on production which would eventually cause a deflationary spiral in the economy.

Snow is White.

" Salji datang lagi..Aku pun terbayang..Terasa bil eletrik ku kini kan mejulang..Ohh.

Salji datang lagi..Badan ku meremang..Harap tragedi jatuh atas salji x berulang..

Ohh.. " [ Lagu asal : Cinta Datang Lagi oleh Dina )

Yes. SNOW. Excited?? Agak la. Stress?? Mungkin. Neutral?? Rasanya. Batak?? Jauh sekali.

Subhanallah!!! Snow tahun ni turun awal sgt. Kenapa?? Itu saya x pasti. Confirm2 economist xleh jawab. Maka mungkin boleh google atau tanya org yang belajar pasal environmental science.

Dan everytime snow dtg, mcm2 gelagat kita tgk. Lets check 'em out.

FIRST YEAR

Kronologi situasi :

Pukul 3 pagi : Salji turun. Semua masih tidur.

Pukul 6.30 pagi : Bangun subuh. Tak perasan lagi salji da tebal kat luar sbb x
rasa xde point pagi2 bukak blind tingkap tu.

Pukul 7 pagi : Tergerak hati nak bukak blind. Mata terbeliak.
" WEIH, SALJI DA TURUN ". Satu rumah terbangun dan bersorak2
ibarat baru merdeka lepas exam.

Pukul 7.15 pagi : Berlari2 di luar. Tangkap2 gambar. Effort2 sikit nak try buat
snow man.

Pukul 9 pagi : Tangan da keras. Kena balik rumah.

Pukul 10 pagi : Setiap orang da ade satu album menyambut salji masing2 kat
Facebook.

SECOND YEAR

Pukul 3 pagi : Salji turun.

Pukul 6.30 pagi : Alarm pertama subuh bunyi. Tekan snooze.

Pukul 7 pagi : Alarm kedua bunyi. Housemate da ketuk2 pintu bilik. " Yer2,da
bgn".

Pukul 7.20 pagi : Tidur balik

Pukul 10 pagi : Bru bgn tidur.Bukak blind. "Oh,salji da. Hah, xnk aa mandi"

THIRD YEAR

Pukul 3 pagi : Salji turun.

Pukul 10 pagi : Bukak mata. Capai phone. Check facebook. Tengok semua org buat
status pasal salji. " Weh, pehal awal sgt salji turun nie?"

FOURTH YEAR

Pukul 3 pagi : Salji turun.

Pukul 7 pagi : Adik2 junior satu rumah da jerit2 kat bawah suruh turun,
diorg excited tengok jalan putih. Yang kat bawah duvet,
"Ape?? Snow?? xpe weh. aku main tahun depan la.ngantuk do.
nak sambung tidur.korg gi aa "

Fikir2 : Snow itu tu salah satu cara kebesaran & kekuasaan Allah. Ape pun respon kita dgn turun salji, moga Allah tetap merahmati kita. ^_^.

Ya Rabb..

Allah, Allah, Allah..

Antaranye adelah matlamat hidup.

Apakah itu matlamat hidup? What is your aim of life?

Cuba tanya 100 org soalan nie. Tengok dorg jawab ape. I bet you'll get funny answers seperti "Matlamat saya nak kahwin dengan anak Cik Mon Kg. Sebelah", to the most ambitious one seperti " I want to replace Barack Obama". Itu kalau tanya org lain. Now, cuba tanya diri sendiri!!!! *berdebar tak???*

Kalau korg kena fikir lebih dari 3 minit untuk jawab soalan nie, SAH!!!!. Korg xde matlamat hidup yg jelas. Dah, lebih baik mati je.Hehe, xla. Kalau xde tu, meh sama2 kita berfikir. Ini kerana insan yg sedang menulis post ini pun kdg2 x jelas dgn aim hidup die.

A lecturer once said, " Matlamat hidup umpama tiang gol di dalam sebuah permainan bola sepak. Tanpanya, anda tidak fokus dan bermain tanpa tujuan. Anda akan hanya menghabiskan masa sembilan puluh minit berlari-lari di dalam padang". Maknanya, kalau Liverpool lawan West Ham, lepas 90 minit, score 0-0, CONFIRM semua pemain Liverpool dgn West Ham xde matlamat hidup.

As a Muslim, kite tahu matlamat hidup kita untuk beribadah kepada Allah. Menjadi hamba dan khalifah. Tapi berapa ramai yang menghayati bnda ini? (Termasuk tuan punye blog).

Waktu Kalsom 16, beria la cakap dgn adik2 suruh berusaha bersungguh2 mencapai matlamat hidup, jgn hilang motivasi, bla bla bla. Nasihat org pandai yer Sarah Syamimi, skrg nie cuba awak nasihatkan diri sendiri. Haaaa. Terdiam..

Ape yg awak kejar sebenarnya wahai Sarah Syamimi?

p/s : Penulis berasa confused yg amat sgt dgn dirinya sendiri tatkala menulis post ini. Terlalu byk yg ingin diluahkan tapi x mampu buat ayat pun sbb confused sgt. Maka, post ini terhenti di sini dan penulis pun memilih utk tidur.

Sekian.

The credit goes to the hardworking committe who turned Kalsom 16 from paper into a reality. I have no words to express my gratitude of being given a chance to work with this wonderful people. Thanks guys.

Credit also goes to all the high-spirited facilitators, without whom the Kalsom 16 will never be another huge success.

Erm, kak syasya yang garang bersama dgn kak Nesha yg lagi garang.hehe..

As of Program Anak Angkat, the villagers were nothing but full of love and attention. Millions of thanks go to the people of Kg. Langkap!!

Men are from Earth, Women are from Earth, Deal with it..!

15th August 2010, 11.45 am, Maersk Office

Life has thrown many facts that could be just a myth, or a complete myth that could be mistakenly regarded as holy fact, or just some random thoughts. Let see few of those..

1. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away."

(Think it sounds vague? Welcome to the club! Well, I guess it depends on what you
do with the apple. If you throw the apple at any approaching doctor, it should do
the trick. But, if you eat it, most scientist would say, not much will happen).

2. " 'LOL' has gone from meaning 'laugh out loud' to 'I have nothing else to say'."

( Fair enough!!)

3. "Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour."

(Next time anyone feel the need to kill these unneeded calories, please head
yourself to the wall. Finally, walls are not just walls.)

4. " The strongest muscle in your body is the tongue"

( Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....)

5. " A pig's orgasm lasts for 30 minutes."

(WHAT THE FUCK??)
(How'd they figure this out, and WHY??)

6. " Money cannot buy happiness. But it sure makes misery easier to live with."

( Anyone wants to deny?? )

7. " Psychiatrists say that 1 of 4 people are mentally ill."

( Check your 3 friends. If they are OK, you're it)

There was so much more I feel like putting down here, but I laughed too much I didnt have energy to write them all here.

' What's the difference between chopped beef and pea soup?
Everyone can chop beef, but not everyone can pea soup! '.

I dont speak the Queen's English..

11.30 am, Thursday, Maersk Office, First day INTERN

Seperti biasa, bukan pasal Internship saya nak cerita.

"What's the ma'er?"
"It's five thir'y now"

Silent 'T'.A very popular trademark of British accent.But does it still being accepted in society now? Non-native speakers now outnumber native ones 3 to 1. The globalisation and adaptation of English lead to; Manglish, Hinglish or Japlish, anyone? So, who own English now?

An Indian manager once said to a student, " You need two things to succeed: English and computers. School teaches one. While for the other"- he points at the nearby cybercafe-"you can go next door". A boy from Sichuan quotes," If you cant speak English, it's like you're deaf and dumb" ( Newsweek,2005)

Lingustically speaking,it's a whole new world. True fact, there are more Chinese studying English than there are Britons. The new English speakers are not just passively absorbing the languange, they are shaping it. Indeed, English has become the first lingustic connector. Whether you're a Malaysian studying in Britain,or Korean executice on business in Bangkok, a Brazilian cheering out for football match in South Africa, or a Swedish chemist attending a conference in Japan, you're probably speak English.

To achieve fluency, non-native speakers start to learn at an ever-younger age. For the traditional custodians of English- the Britons and Americans- this means money. Why such enthusiasm?? In a word,JOBS.

Moral : Lepas ni nak blogging, bawak2 la menulis in English. Rojak2 pun okay la. Haihh, name je belajar UK, English SUCKS!!!

Malaysia Oh Malaysia..

Arrived at Malaysia, 9.35pm, 17th June 2010.KLIA.

Today,25th June 2010, 9.04am, Dalam KTM

Kira2, da 8 hari kembali ke kg halaman. Let's see what I have learned so far about my own tanah air..

1. Malaysia masih dibanjiri foreign workers. Legal or illegal, itu nnti saya tulis post lain. nnti pjg sgt. Klang masih pegang title 'The 2nd Jakarta'.

2. Sungai Klang mantain!!! MANTAIN KOTOR. Malah, prestasi meningkat dengan permukaan sungai yang dihiasi botol, sampah dan mcm2 lagi. TAHNIAH KLANG!!!

3. Tudung Bawal is no longer trendy. TUDUNG ARIANNI is the new pink. Sulam sana, sulam sini, batu sana, batu sini. Wah2. Kalau dulu, pakai tudung mcm tu, org ckp mcm indon. Sekarang, siapa ckp cmtu, sumpah kena cili mulut.

4. FIRST CLASS IMITATIONS. Dulu, zaman Iphone 1, kita ada Gucci and Pucci. Kita ada Mango and Mengo. Kita ada Dolce & Gabbana and Dalca & Gaban. Haha. Sekarang, zaman Iphone 4 ( pfttt!!), ciplak dgn original semua nampak sama je.x caya. pegi la pasar borong mne2 yer.

p/s : Menyesal beli beg Burberry original last month. smpi x makan. sobb3~

5. KTM, yer, komuter, masih Juara Carta Terlambat. Prestasi delay kekal over a number of years. Koc wanita, malas nak citer.

6.Malaysian masih suka buang sampah merata-rata.

' Brader, sampah roti 80 sen tu, da reti makan, reti2 la buang. Saya pun bayar cukai jugak'..Kaitan?? Fikir sendiri?? .=)

Kutuk2 pun, perli2 pun, dalam passport, tetap warganegara Malaysia. Kalau Robert, Mark, Steve, Gillian, Julia or Cherry tanya,

'Sasya. where are you from?'

' I am from Malaysia'....Muka bangga. erk!!!

Rambut saya hitam,rambut awak perang..

Bukan pasal rambut saya nak cerita..

Counting days to go back to Malaysia. Ask any first years, mostly will be doing this by now, if not all. Dalam menghitung hari nak balik nie, terasa nk buat post nie.

To all first years,(student year lain msti da rasa bnda2 nie)..Meh tgk bnda yg ade kat UK yg korg macam nak tak nak je buat kat Malaysia..

1. Orang UK jogging setiap masa,di mana2 aja. Kite tengok pun da biasa. Jangan sampai..

Lokasi :Kg Sg. Udang, petang, suatu hari.

Cik Fatimah sedang jogging mengelilingi kawasan kampung.

2. Kat sini kita da biasa sebut 'CHEERS' sebagai ucapan terima kasih. Jangan sampai..

Pakcik jual nasi lemak : 'Nah dik, nasi lemak 5 bungkus, 6 hinggit'
Saya : ' Nah makcik, 6 rirnggit, CHEERS!!'
Pakcik (monolog): 'Giler ape budak nie, die igt aku nak minum laga2 cawan dgn die ke'

3. Kat sini, kita da biasa pegang pintu untuk orang yang nak masuk lepas kita.Jangan sampai..

Abu jalan2 nak pergi 7-Eleven. Depan Abu, ade mamat gaya rempit tengah nak masuk kedai tue. Abu pun melangkah dan..

Emak Abu : 'Eh Abu, kau pergi mana? Kenapa kepala kau benjol ni nak?'

4. Anjing2 di UK adalah patuh dan bijak. Bukan nak kata anjing Malaysia bodoh yer, cuma mereka kurang jinak. Jangan sampai....(tiada situasi) kena kejar anjing..Jadi berhati-hati lah jika pulang nanti, especially org Melayu yer, yang memang x biasa dgn dogs.

5. Kat sini, they have a number of normal gestures. Yang paling favourite, at least I think it is, adalah ' HI. YOU ALRIGHT?'..Jangan sampai..

Warung mamak, lewat pagi, hari cuti

Sam: 'Hi Zack, you alright?

'Hoi SAMeon, sejak bila pulak aku x ok nie...Sape zack pulak?? Nama aku zakiah kot'

Actually, byk lagi budaya kita yg clash dgn diorg.Pandai2 la fikir mana yg patut ambik, mana yg patut tinggal kat sini je. Semoga kita makin disayangi masyarakat sekeliling. Oh yer, satu lagi, Malaysia ade ISA. So, faham2 la yer..

'Ibu, camne nak ikat kain batik niee..lupa la...'

T.H.A.N.K.S.Y.2.

I wanted to write this for so long, but did not have chance. One could say, now exam season still got time meh? Haha. This is just another strong reason not to touch books for an hour or so. It would not make me feel guilty because I am doing something good. (blogging,lol.). This is also made in conjunction of the Leavers Party on this coming Sunday. Do come everyone!!!

Okay. This post is dedicated to a group of people who have sort of changed me. THE NMS COMMITTEE 2009/2010. To the extent that I am somehow a partially different person now. Used to be clumsy, not-so-organised me to a reliable, better-organised Syasya. Lets begin with the Taiko, lol.

FIQRY

Well-known for his nerdy-ness and his craze for Ice Hockey up to the point where he only got 20 pounds in his bank account because the rest are mostly spent on Ice Hockey, or maybe books. I knew he exists since I was in KYUEM, never got the chance to know in-person. Maybe because he is the Permanent Resident of Resource Centre (library) back in college. Given a chance to work under Fiqry was a bless. He is a strong, efficient, smart leader. Has the gift of words and very bold. ‘Solid’, quoted from Encik Adhari.lol.He makes it clear about lots of things in working with people that you don’t learn in school nor college. At times, he always comes up with lame jokes. But, I gotta laugh, he’s my boss. Haha. Nevertheless, I have met very few people who have made me fascinated by their working ettiques, and you’re one of them.
I was once called Fiqry’s apprentice, and guess what, I am proud to be called one.

AMIRA

The chocolate-cakes expert. One of the calmest,coolest Vice President I have ever met. She knows when to be serious, when to be funny, when to act like a colleague, and when to act gossip girl. XOXO. Hehe.

IZREENA

One of the best people to go and find advice. Very helpful. NO!!! Super helpful. Frankly, I have never amazed by any secretary, but you did amaze me. Hehe. Not exaggerating. I really do!! My best companion to go to gym and sport centre. Faizal Tahir kipas-susah-mati.

LIYANA

You know Liyana, sumpah I seram dgn you dulu sbb I thought you garang, Haha. Then,after NMG habis, I saw the different side of you and perangai gila2 tu terserlah juga. Maybe NMG Syndrome kn, too much pressure. Emm, to new committee, klu lepas ni Akmal yg suka buat lawak tu jadi garang. Korg faham2 je la. Lol. Liyana was successfully a director of NMG 2009, enough said!!!

KAK SUHAILA

Hmm, ni yg paling mencabar nk describe. Baik sgt, smpi tak tahu nk describe cmne. Hehe. She’s a wonderful, nice sister. The best Welfare Secretary I have ever met. Pandai masak, hint2*.

JOANNE

The retired Ah-Long. Hehe. An efficient one though, that one no doubt. Always gives good ideas and trendy.=).

DESMOND

The coolest guy in town!!!

KHAIDIR

Speaks very politely. Nice person to know. Org penting yg banyak organise kick-side events for NMS. Nampak mcm shy, but sumpah, he works very good.

I am grateful that I came to Nottingham, meet great people, work with them including other seniors such as Akmal Roji, Muaz, Irina, Kak Maryam , Cha, Daus, Salim and the list goes on. I know just by saying thanks will not be enough. But, from the bottom of my heart, to all seniors of Nottingham and Leavers, THANK YOU.

Footnote (IMPORTANT) : This post does not entitle any of the previous committee to be excluded from helping the new committee. Haha. I mean it. Be prepared for each of us will start bugging you all very soon. Hehe.

Warm regards,
Syasya.

Coretan Adik & Kakak

wahai kakakku
kenapakah lemah sungguh kaum hawa itu
asyik berteman tangis dan sendu sahaja...

wahai adikku
kerana sendu rayunya
musa a.s. terselamat dari kekejaman firaun

duhai adikku
lembut wanita itu bukan lemah
tetapi senjata

namun wahai kakakku
wanita itu fitnah dunia

pernahkah adikku dengar
pesanan ilahi pada hambaNya

"wahai lelaki-lelaki yang beriman
tundukkanlah pandanganmu dan tutupkanlah auratmu"*

cuba adik nilai
pada siapa terlebih dahulu Allah dahulukan pesananNya?
pada hamba yang bergelar ar-rijal
kerana andai si lelaki menjaga pandangannya
maka tidak mungkin terlihat akan wanita
yang menjadi fitnah pada dirinya

dan tidaklah Allah lupakan pesanan buat wanita
agar memelihara auratnya
kerana disitulah kehormatannya
bukan fitnah semata-mata
jikalau ar-rijal dan an nisa
sama-sama mematuhi pesanan ilahi itu!

sesungguhnya wanita yang beriman yang solehah itu
lebih baik dari ribuan lelaki yang soleh

tapi kakakku
kenapa wanita itu menjadi peragaan?
tidakkah mereka merasa malu?

wahai adikku sayang
al-haya' (sifat malu)
ada dalam diri setiap insan
wujudnya seiring dengan nafas insani
dan al-haya' itulah pakaian iman
pada diri wanita itu indah al-haya'
sebagai pembenteng diri

namun
bila mana al-haya' itu lebur
imannya runtuh
kenapa mereka merelakan diri menjadi peragaan?
kerana mereka sebenarnya paranoid
merasakan diri belum cukup menarik
mereka sebenarnya kalah dari segi psikologi

namun adikku
wanita solehah itu pasti melindungi diri mereka
dari perbuatan murahan itu

wahai adikku
1001 keindahan penciptaan wanita
pandai-pandailah dikau menilai
antara permata dan debu-debu kilauan pasir

wahai adikku
janganlah adik gusar
tatkala tiada lelaki yang hadir memetikmu
dan jangan engkau sekali-kali merendahkan dirimu,
menggugurkan diri, menyembah tanah
sedangkan engkau sebenarnya telah Allah jadikan
begitu tinggi martabatmu...

Happy 23rd Anniversary Mum & Dad

WOW. Your marriage is already 23 years old. A huge CONGRATULATION to my daddy and mummy.

By simply saying this, it may not sound as deep as I want it to be. But please know that I am really impressed and amazed on how both of you keeping this marriage for the sake of us. I am not a small girl. Both of you may not tell me anything, but I can see how much it takes to have a family, and to assure everyone is taken care of. Tell you what; you have done a good job so far. Susah kot nak besarkan 5 org anak, kalau sorg2 perangai cam hantu. Sorry ibu. Sorry ayah.

We may not be wealthy. We may not live in a big house. We may not have acres of lands. But we have each other. I am grateful for having both of you as my parents and for all the things that you have given to us. Keeping a marriage is simply not a walk in the park. Thank you for enduring all the hardships after 23 years. THANK MR SUHAIMI &MADAM JOLITA. WE LOVE YOU~

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS ZAFIRAH

*singing*.hehe.today is a happy day for my lovely friend, ZAC.*kau patut rasa special zac, sbb kau first person yg aku write dlm post aku.haha.but don’t be so happy yet, wait till you finish reading this.

Zafirah Adrus. I must not call her a girl anymore. You’re 20 already missy. She’s a woman, a respectable lady, someone who has gained my respect after knowing her for only few years. Muka garang, kalau tgk kadang2 rasa nk langgar dgn traktor. Tapi hati baik, kdg2 je. Eh tak2. Most of the time. Suka tidur, tapi selalu tyme exam score je. So jgn dengki dgn die, tapi sile belajar mcm mana die absorb ilmu2 tu tyme die tidur. Very obedient to parents, though sometimes I know how you want to rebel. A wonderful sister, with a football team of siblings. Kalau aku zac, adik2 aku da mati didera. Lol. Exaggerate. Zac seems to be a very strong person, but sometimes she can be so fragile. Very determined and firm. Pandai masak. Worhh, da berapa pjg aku puji kau nie.Haha, xpe la, bagi chance, birthday girl kan. Teruskan mengampu. Zac kdg2 nmpak mcm kasar sikit, tapi please know that she is very penyayang.

I want to thank her for always be there for me. Especially during my tough times in KYUEM. I still can recall looking for you again and again when i cried again and again. And yet, you never hate me, mungkin meluat sikit ade la kot.haha.sile mengaku zac. Tapi alhamdullilah, with zac, and the rest my ‘family’ in KY, i pulled it through.

Lastly, i wish for you happiness and ease in everything you do. I love you friend~

Epilogue on Leadership

This world needs leaders.

# Who use their influence at the right times for the right reasons;

# Who take a little greater share of the blame and a little smaller share of the credit;

# Who lead themselves successfully before attempting to lead others;

# Who continue to search for the best answer, not the familiar one;

# Who add value to the people and the organization they lead;

# Who work for the benefit of others and not for personal gain;

# Who handle themselves with their heads and handle others with their hearts;

# Who know the way, go the way and show the way;

# Who inspires and motivate rather than intimidate and manipulate;

# Who live with people to know their problems and live with God in order to solve them;

# Who realize that their disposition are more important that their positions;

# Who mold opinions instead of following opinion polls;

# Who understand that an institution is the reflection of their character;

# Who never place themselves above others except in carrying responsibilities;

# Who will be as honest in small things as in great things;

# Who disciplined themselves so they will not be disciplined by others;

# Who encounter setbacks and turn them into comebacks; and

# Who follow a moral compass that points in the right direction regardless of the trends
